Demand an explanation from the communist party
This is a major injustice that has lasted for 64 years. My father Wang Shuangzhai, a
Manchurian man who fought to protect his country in the anti-Japanese war for 14
years, got killed under the Communist Party’s gunpoint. During the Campaign to
Suppress Counterrevolutionaries, the Communist Party massacred tens of thousands of
the patriots that fought in the anti-Japanese war, including my father. This crime
should never be tolerated. I strongly urge the Supreme Court of People's Republic of
China, to accept my case immediately, review the sentence which labeled my father as
counter-revolutionary, and clear my father’s name.
My father Wang Minzheng (also used name Shuangzhai) was born in Tieling, Liaoning
Province on June 28, 1912. At the age of 13, he went to the best middle school in
Shenyang, and was trained in the military school that Zhang Xueliang founded in
1927. After the September 18 Incident, Japanese started invading and occupying the
northeastern China. My father got in touch with Shi Jian, who was doing underground
work for Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) to fight against the Japanese. He later joined the
KMT with Shi’s introduction, and dedicated himself in fighting the great war to
resist the Japanese invasion and protect his country.
During the anti-Japanese war, Shi Jian was the director of Northeast investigation
office, and my father was his secretary. To gather intelligence of the Japanese
military, he had worked undercover in Feng Tian ordnance factory, the Showa Steel
Works, Shen Yang heavy weapons factory and Dalian aircraft factory. He collected
valuable intelligence and reported them to his superiors.
My father had also worked undercover as a teacher, businessman, and fortune teller.
He went every place to spread the words about fighting against the Japanese,
distribute flyers, and recruit people to join the KMT. He risked his life every day
doing his undercover work. He was on the “most wanted” list by the Japanese-
controlled Manchukuo, and was also sentenced to death in his absence by the
After the Japanese surrender in 1945, my father left KMT and started his own
business to make a living. One day in the latter half of 1950, he was suddenly
arrested by the communist party. At that time, he was still the general manager of
Tianjin Yuan Chang trade Co., Ltd.
On the morning of March 31, 1951, 193 people all together were shot to death by the
communist government, and my father Wang Shuangzhai was one of the 193 people. He
was only 39 years old that day. Even though he was sentenced to death by the
Manchukuo government, he managed to escape. He survived in the anti-Japanese war,
but was killed by the communist government.
My father was shot with the “crime” of “counter-revolutionary”, my grandfather
was also monitored by the Communist Party. All the people of my family became lower
class citizens, and were the target of communist party’s oppression.
During the Cultural Revolution, since we are all family members of counter-
revolutionary, we were brutally persecuted again by the communist party. My
grandfather was deported to the village of Tieling from Tianjin city, at that time
he was already over 80 years old. Finally he couldn’t stand the abuse and
humiliation, and committed suicide by hanging himself.
During the 1980s, the communist party admitted that, there were a number of KMT
members that are wrongfully executed during the “Suppress Counterrevolutionaries”
movement. With the historical materials uncovered, my sister and I started to
collect evidence to try to clear my father’s name.
With the help of Tianjin Revolutionary Committee, Tianjin Whampoa Alumni Association
and Jilin CPPCC history office, we got 8 witnesses and 15 copies of testimony. These
materials made up a comprehensive chain of evidence, sufficient enough to invalidate
all the untrue statement in the previous sentence against my father.
On February 1987, we began to appeal to the Intermediate People's Court of Tianjin.
The case was accepted in March, but they simply sent a judge named Shi Baoguang to
fool with us. Without any investigation, Shi dismissed our complaint. We asked him
why, he answered without any hesitance: “Wang was with the KMT when he fought the
anti-Japanese war, if you fight Japanese on behalf of the KMT, then you are anti-
Party, anti-people, and counter-revolutionary!"
On March 4, 1988, nine days after we received the rejection notice from the
Intermediate Court, we continued to appeal to the higher court of Tianjin. Again,
without any investigation, we got another rejection notice on February 12, 1989.
We were seriously offended and outraged, I felt my chest was full of anger burning
On August 15, 2011, I went to the Supreme People's Court in Beijing, to ask the case
filing division to accept my case, and review the statement against my father, and I
was rejected by them again.
Four years later, I went to Beijing on April 13, 2015 again, and I was yet again
As my father Wang Shuangzhai’s daughter, I have the responsibility to speak up for
him. On the sentence to label him as “counter-revolutionary”, all the activities
listed were actually his heroic deed to fight the Japanese invasion. How can
someone’s act to protect his own country be seen as “counter-revolutionary”? My
father loved China and its people, when his country was invaded, he fought back and
protected his own country, when the eastern provinces was colonized for 14 years, he
did what a Chinese should do. The fact that he was sentenced to death by the
Japanese-controlled Manchukuo actually proved that he made great contribution to
resist the Japanese, how can the communist party labeled him as counter-
revolutionary? To fight against the Japanese is not a crime, it’s a contribution.
Until today, the Communist party still won’t admit that they wrongfully killed my
father and many other innocent people, this is not right. They should follow the
examples set by Taiwan with the “228 Incident”, apologize to the family members
and give them their names back.
As 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the anti-Japanese war, across the strait both
China and Taiwan are commemorate those who had made contribution to fight against
the Japanese, giving the heroes medals and thanking them. But the fact is, the
communist party has massacred numerous KMT heroes who fought in the war, and now
they still won’t clear my father’s name.
I am a daughter of the anti-Japanese hero, but I was labeled as a “counter-
revolutionary offspring”, a name made up by the communist party to persecute
people. I have my father’s blood running in me, and I’m proud to have such a
father, so I'm willing to be a “counter-revolutionary offspring”.
I want to ask the communist party, do you still think those KMT members who fought
in the anti-Japanese war as counter-revolutionaries? If not, then please give my
father an explanation!
